Vimsopaka Bala is the strength of a planet which shows its ability to give positive results. The planet gives result in the Major period (Dasha) and its Sub-periods (Antara Dashas). To understand how Vimsopaka Bala works we need to know few important points and the manual calculation of Vimsdopaka Bala. So let us begin with the manual calculation of Vimsopaka Bala. We will also see an example chart and try to calculate Vimsopaka Bala for a better understanding of this concept.
The Rishi Parashar provided us with the weighted scheme assigned to the Varga (Divisional) charts as per their importance.
There are four types of Varga Schemes which are as follows:
|Shad Varga||Six Divisional Charts|
|Sapta Varga||Seven Divisional Charts|
|Dasa Varga||Ten Divisional Charts|
|Shodasa Varga||Sixteen Divisional Charts|
Now let us know the points allotted to different Vargas.
|Chatur Vimsamsa (D24)||-||-||-||0.5|
*Note -These each point against divisions is known as Swaviswa.
Vimsopaka Bala | Power of Planets
Vimshopak Bala is the 20 point strength which planets acquire by occupying own Vargas in the Varga schemes.
Similarly, Depending upon the placement in Great Friends, Friends, Neutral, Enemies, Great Enemies Vargas, the strength would vary.
The table of points is as follows:
|Placement in||strength Points|
*Note -These points are known as Varga Viswa.
There are three types of planetary relationships (Graha Sambandha) :
- Natural Relationship (Naisargik Sambandha).
- Temporary Relationship (Tatkalik Sambandha)
- Compound Relationship (Panchadha Sambandha)
We need to consider only Compound Relationship (Panchadha Sambandha) while calculating Vimsopaka Bala.
The formula to calculate net Vimsopaka Bala provided in BHPS are as follows:
(Swaviswa X Varga Viswa)/ 20
As per this formula, we need to Multiply Swaviswa Points with Varga Viswa Points and then we divide the number with 20.
After calculation, we receive the net Vimpsopaka strength in points and there are some guidelines to interpret these points.
Planets give their results as per points received which are mentioned below.
|0-5||Bad or Inauspicious Results|
|5-10||Average or few good results|
Let us take an example chart to understand better. The chart details are as follows:
Date of Birth -27/08/1986,
Place of Birth -Chandigarh (Haryana),
Time of Birth -06:20 AM.
Panchadha Maitri Table for this chart is as follows:
|Sun||Great Friend - Moon.|
Great Enemy - Rahu.
Friend - Nil
Enemy - Mercury.
Neutral - Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn & Ketu.
|Moon||Great Friend - Sun & Mercury.|
Great Enemy - Ketu.
Friend - Jupiter.
Enemy - Mars, Venus & Saturn.
Neutral - Rahu.
|Mars||Great Friend - Jupiter & Ketu.|
Great Enemy - Mercury.
Friend - Venus & Saturn.
Enemy - Nil
Neutral - Sun, Moon & Rahu.
|Mercury||Great Friend - Venus.|
Great Enemy - Nil
Friend - Saturn & Ketu.
Enemy - Mars, Jupiter & Rahu.
Neutral - Sun & Moon.
|Jupiter||Great Friend - Moon, Mars & Rahu.|
Great Enemy - Mercury & Venus.
Friend - Saturn.
Enemy - Ketu.
Neutral - Sun.
|Venus||Great Friend - Mercury & Saturn.|
Great Enemy - Moon
Friend - Mars.
Enemy - Jupiter.
Neutral - Sun, Rahu & Ketu.
|Saturn||Great Friend - Mercury, Venus & Ketu.|
Great Enemy - Moon.
Friend - Jupiter.
Enemy - Nil.
Neutral - Sun, Mars & Rahu.
|Rahu||Great Friend - Jupiter.|
Great Enemy - Sun.
Friend - Nil.
Enemy - Mercury & Ketu.
Neutral - Moon, Mars, Venus & Saturn.
|Ketu||Great Friend - Mars & Saturn. |
Great Enemy - Moon.
Friend - Mercury.
Enemy - Jupiter & Rahu.
Neutral - Sun & Venus.
Now we will see the calculation of Vimsopaka Bala of Sun as per shad Varga scheme which is as follows:
|Vargas (Divisions)||Signs||Relationship with the Sign / Points|
(Refer Table 3 & 5)
|Birth Chart (D1)||Leo||Own Sign/ 20 points|
|Hora (D2)||Leo||Own Sign/ 20 points|
|Drekkana (D3)||Leo||Own Sign/ 20 points|
|Navamsa (D9)||Gemini||Enemy Sign/ 7 points|
|Dvadasamsa (D12)||Scorpio||Neutral Sign/ 10 points|
|Trimsamsa (D30)||Aquarius||Neutral Sign/ 10 points|
*Note -Refer Table 3 & 5
Formula -(Swaviswa X Varga Viswa ) / 20
(Swaviswa X Varga Viswa ) / 20
*NOTE -(Table3 X Table2)/20
So as we can see Sun has 15.25 ( Refer Table 4) Vimsopaka strength points which show Dasha and Antarsasha Periods of Sun will bestow good results to the person. Likewise, we can calculate Vimsopaka Bala for each and every planet and for different Varga schemes.
